Taquerias El Atacor #11

Wow, I have a lot to say about this restaurant. The neighborhood that you find the restaurant in is definitely not the best, and inside, the restaurant is not good either. This place, is literally a hole in the wall. How I would describe it is by using the word "grub". El Atacor #11 (don't get confused with the other El Atacors) doesn't smell the best either, and it's freezing inside. There are several game machines and an oldjukebox that plays Mexican music. They have the claw game and also some random arcade game. My cousins and I borrowed two quarters from our parents and put them into the claw machine, hoping to win something. Sadly, nothing happened. Angrily my cousins and I pressed the coin return button and out popped our two quarters... and two more. That's pretty good don't you think? We put in 50 cents and we got $1.00 back! Anyways, I'm not posting this just to talk about how sucky the decor is, (haha get it? El Atacor...decor) the food is what I'm here to talk about. The absolute BEST item you can get there (in my opinion) is the POTATO TACOES!!!! REMEMBER THAT!!!! It is soooooo (x100000000000) good. The potatoes and tacos are fried together till they are so crispy and delicious. They have an amazing type of "pico de gallo" that is a lot spicier but it is so delicious! If you are around the area you MUST go just for the potato tacos. Plus it is super cheap. Ten potato tacos are only $7.00. Can you believe it? It's so good! It comes with a guacamole dressing and sour cream drizzled on top. Uggghhh it's so delicious. Hopefully you get to taste the taco before changing your mind from the look of this hole in the wall.

El Atacor #11 have your standard burritos and stuff like that too. The burritos are humongous though, so you have to share it with someone or have a big appetite.
You don't go to El Atacor #11 for the burritos though... I mean you could but...the potato tacos are just so good. I guess I'm sounding pretty repetitive now plus I keep on gulping, so I'm going to move on. :)

Here's the address:
2622 N Figueroa St
Los Angeles, CA 90065
Neighborhood: Cypress Park

Have fun! Maybe you'll be lucky and get twice as much money as you put in the game machines like me!

It's kind of creepy in the restaurant too... It's okay if you take your potato tacos and run..maybe eat in the car.
AGHHH!!! The drawings I make are coming out so small! As soon as I fix the problem I will edit the blog.

HAPPY 2012!!!

Hope you like my drawing! I love Adobe Illustrator...
Sadly I'm not sure if I love the new year as much. In my mind it means more school. Anyways, I hope everyone has a great New Year!

Chabuya: Ramen...again huh? hehe

Although I am reviewing another ramen place, this one is definitely worth it. It is a LOT better than the others, in my opinion... Although I love California Ramen. Anyways, the restaurant is called Chabuya. It is, again, on Sawtelle. (Speaking about places on Sawtelle, there is a new Sushi place that opened called Sushi Stop. It is REALLY busy and apparently amazing. Any feedback? I have never been there before, and may want to try it.) Everything is about Chabuya is amazing. The prices aren't too high (considering the size), the rice bowls are good (I love the pork chashu bowl), the noodles are great, and the broth is so delicious. So far, my favorite ramen is the Kara Kara Ramen. It is spicy and delicious, although they do have classic ramen there as well. It's a great deal it you get a lunch combo, in which you get a mini rice bowl (and trust me it is NOT mini...especially the curry) with your ramen for only $3 extra.
The broth is delicious in all of the ramen, and not too rich like another place I went to.... Although, if you guys want "traditional" ramen. I would not recommend Chabuya, because a few people can get picky.... I like it, just like California Ramen, but I guess that's just my opinion.

Sadly they don't have a website, but here is the address:

2002 Sawtelle Blvd
Los Angeles, CA 90025

Kara Kara Ramen!!! :P

I don't know what I am supposed to draw now after already drawing ramen.... :) I'll think it over.

Frozen Yogurt!! ADDING ON

Now I'm not so sure about what kind of frozen yogurt place I like. The more I go to Pinkberry the more I like it. I think Pinkberry will now be at the top of my list because it tastes tart, instead of just some milk with sugar. I think that the best frozen yogurt would definitely be the frozen yogurt homemade. Once i find the recipe for it I'll post it online. I think that it's awesome that Yogurtland has those decomposable spoons though. They are so colorful and awesome. :3 Yogurtland needs some flavors that are a little more tart.

Hmmmm.....I haven't seen a Red Mango place in quiet a while...... Maybe I got all the red mango places to close down. BWAHAHAHA... No just kidding. I haven't tried Red Mango for a really long time maybe 4 years long time but there's none in the area anyways.

The absolute best toppings to get at Pinkberry are these really delicious milk chocolate crisps. They are the best thing you can get on frozen yogurt EVER! All of the chocolate is all melty and delicious...

At Yogurtland they give you a tasting cup....which is not the best idea because you see people go in there and fill there tasting cup till it's 12 inches high and they can just leave because that's all the frozen yogurt they want anyways.

I never heard of Menchies before.... I guess I'll go look it up.

Paris...Finally

I haven't been writing since, as you can see, January 13. It's going to be hard to remember stuff from Paris because 1, I have a horrible memory, and 2, it was 2 years ago. The reason I stopped writing was because I got kind of lazy and started to become a couch potato and collect dust.I'm going to try to write more on this blog though because I have about 100 newrestaurants I have to talk about.
Okay. This is going to be a long post. So, I went to Paris last year and it was beautiful. The only problem was, the food wasn't that great. I must say the best thing I ate was in Versailles at a little restaurant called A La Cote Bretonne. They serve the best kind of crepes I've ever had. And they're not just sweet they can have eggs, bacon, ratatouille, mushrooms, spinach, peppers, anything you can ever dream of and they're all delicious. If you're going to Paris and going to check out Versailles you have to go to A La Cote Bretonne.
Now If you're going to Brussels, which is only a few hours drive from Paris, you should go have seafood at..well near the fish market.I don't think it really matters which place you go to (and I can't remember the name) to get good seafood at a fish market.
I guess I have to talk about a restaurant in Paris too. But nothing was that great. Remember if you're going to eat at a restaurant in Paris, ask the waiter to give you tap water to drink because otherwise they'll give you bottled water which is $8.00. And coke, would be $6.00 and it's not very fizzy either. I would say your best bet is to get some french bread, some salami and cheese and eat by the River Seine. It's a great way to see the highlights of Paris, and it's cheap and good. We figured out that the salami, cheese and bread was the best meal on the last day of our trip,
and ate in our hotel, so we never got to sit by the Seine at night to eat. We did walk along the Seine many times and saw many people eating this kind of food and listening to the people singing and dancing and playing musical instruments.
One of the best parts of Paris was getting ice cream everyday at Berthillon.
Berthillon is a small ice cream place. Actually really small you have to get your ice cream at the front of the store through a window. But that doesn't matter when the ice cream is that good. Many people are in line for the ice cream though,so you have to be prepared to wait. The thing that's interesting about Berthillon is they also sell 2 ice cream cones connected. It's kind of hard to explain so I'll draw a picture later. So that pretty much wraps up what I was supposed to write last summer but I still have a LOT of catching up to do.
(I wrote this 2 years ago [above]. So it's like a time capsule! hahahaahehehe)

(BACK TO THE PRESENT!!!!)
I am so sorry i didn't post this.... I could have but I got kind of lazy.... I went to Paris actually 2 years ago. I went to Hawaii last year and this year i went to Seattle/the pacific northwest, and San Francisco. Sorry i haven't posted in a while... Like my cousin, I haven't posted in 2 years. :) Sorry about that. THERE ARE A LOT OF RESTAURANTS I HAVE TO REVIEW NOW!

Sorry, that the drawing so small. I used adobe illustrator but when I posted the drawing it looks really tiny.... I hope that you can read the font!

Orris; a Place to Get Away From Kids Like Us... Ha Ha

Happy New Year! Wow.... To all the people who actually read my blog, I haven't posted since August 15th as you can see. The reason why? Laziness got the best of me! In school we've been doing book reviews so it reminded me of my lonely little computer waiting for me to start a new post. In the last "few" months, from summer to winter break, I found many different restaurants nagging me at the back of my mind to write about them, which I "never got the chance to do". But I have too many things to write about, one of which was finding a great restaurant in Paris, so I will start with the first thing that I should have wrote about in summertime, the restaurant Orris.(you can click on the link to see the site) As you guys may have noticed most of the restaurants we like are near Sawtelle, and Orris is one of those many places. Orris standing for the root of an iris (why? check the site!), is a pretty expensive restaurant and we only go on special occasions like birthdays. The last time I went, August 15 was my sister's birthday, and there's one thing I need to say about Orris, and that is their food is great. The first time we discovered it was when Tofu Ya and Hide Sushi (a place I will also mention some other time) were too crowded. We decided to wander the streets for a while and stumbled upon Orris. Orris serves small servings, or tapas and I personally enjoy eating smaller dishes. The flavors are wonderful and unique if you don't mind spending some extra money. One of their dishes, one of my favorites, is the curry infused shrimp tempura or the seared ahi sashimi.

(these are just the menu page on the site). Hmm I seem to be getting hungry just thinking about it. Well I'll write about other stuff later. I'm going to get a snack! I hope you guys enjoy Orris. It's a great place to get away from kids like us if you want to have a romantic dinner! Here's more info:

Just Bring Your Hands

You must be thinking right now "Just Bring Your Hands? Is this some kind of donation or something?!" Well no, it isn't. I only talk about food and art remember??(though I can't think of what to do in art...) This is a restaurant, Merkato, where you can eat with your hands! Kids will love this!!
Merkato is an Ethiopian restaurant in Little Ethiopia in Los Angeles CA, on Fairfax. (Near LACMA museum) Well if you live under a rock and never heard of Ethiopian food, then I shall explain. Ethiopian food often has on the center platter a piece of spongy flat bread called injera. The bread is a little bit sour but goes great with what you put on it. On top of the bread are often lentils, cabbage, greens, and meat each cooked in different kinds of sauces that soak into the bread.
Then this is when the hand part comes in. Tear off a piece of the injera and scoop up the sauce and eat up! It may seem uncivilized but that's why kids love it! Hope you have fun!
